Declan Drohan M.A. H.Dip.Ad.Ed teaches on the B.A. in Performing Arts and the M.A. in Creative Practice at ATU Sligo. He has been a theatre practitioner for over 30 years. His practice encompasses acting , directing, lecturing, consultancy and mentoring. He trained at the Gaiety School of Acting, Adult Education Dept NUI Maynooth, and with Michael Chekhov Europe. He is Co-Director of Chekhov Training and Performance Ireland, a member of the International Chekhov Studios Co-Op, and Michael Chekhov Europe, and is a former Director of the Glens Arts Centre, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim. He is a mentor/trainer with Leitrim Creative Frame. He returned to acting in 2017 appearing in ' Mr L's Limbo', and 'The Date'.. both award winners at film festivals. He played a major role in Ciaran Creagh's ' Samanta Nobody, which premiered in Spring 2026 in Dublin and Chicago. He has recently played opposite Lalor Roddy in the short film ‘For Grace Go I’ which premiered at Adaptation Film Festival 2025. In recent years, he has adjudicated full length festivals in Kiltyclogher, Newtownstewart, Enniskillen, Rathangan, Letterkenny, Carnew, Wexford, Ballinamore and Tubbercurry. One acts in Manorhamilton, Carrigallen, Cavan, Kiltimagh, Letterkenny and Enniskillen. In December 2026, he is delighted to adjudicate the one act all Ireland Finals in an Grianan, Letterkenny. He has taught workshops for DLI throughout the 32 counties and taught at the Summerschool at University of Limerick. He offers masterclasses and workshops in the Michael Chekhov Technique both in Ireland and internationally. In 2026 he guest lectured at Yeditepe University, Istanbul and in June , will co lead the annual Chekhov Training and Performance Ireland Summerschool at Galway University. He is a member of the Association of Drama Adjudicators (ADA)
